Jim: What area do you cover for Nelnet?

Dana: I work in the Southeast region of the country. I primarily cover Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky and Tennessee.

Jim: Where do you live?

Dana: High Point, North Carolina

Jim: How many years have you worked in the financial aid industry?

Dana: I’m an 18-year veteran of the financial aid industry. I joined Nelnet in 2008. Before that, I was a Regional Sales Lead for Student Loan Xpress and the Director of Student Financial Assistance at High Point University.

Jim: Are you a member of any financial aid industry associations?

Dana: I am a member of all the state associations in my territory as well as SASFAA regional association. I am currently serving as the Technology Chair for NCASFAA. In previous years, I have held board positions for SASFAA and NCASFAA, including Past President and Vice President for NCASFAA.

Jim: What is your education background?

Dana: I hold a master’s degree in organizational management from University of Phoenix and a master’s in public administration from the University of North Carolina – Greensboro. I received a Bachelor of Science in justice and policy studies from Guilford College.

Jim: Dana, tell me about your family.

Dana: I have a wonderful ten-year-old daughter, Sloane, and a dog named Allie.

Jim: What are some of your interests outside of work?

Dana: Tennis, reading, traveling, and following pro football.

Jim: Tell me one thing about you that many people may not know.

Dana: In high school and college, I was an Emergency Medical Technician and volunteered with the local rescue squad.
