Kevin Herman, Managing Director, Nelnet Diversified Solutions

What are you most proud of with your department?

Kevin:  I am most proud of our team being able to adapt and lead through all the changes of last year.

What has been your biggest challenge work-wise over the past 12 months?

Kevin:  Really, the biggest challenge and opportunity has been becoming a servicer for the Department of Education.  The challenging part with Nelnet’s new role as a Direct Loan servicer has been working with the changing paradigm, making sure we are scaling appropriately and continuing to provide the high level of service our customers expect from Nelnet.

If a school asks you what you do for Nelnet that impacts them, what would you say?

Kevin: We strive to provide information quickly, accurately, and clearly to meet the needs of our schools customers.

What are the goals of your department?

Kevin:  We strive to be a strong partner with the Department of Education, schools, and borrowers.  Another main goal is to provide services to help students, schools and FSA in achieving our mutual educational goals.  As always, Nelnet focuses on keeping Default Rates low for our schools with the primary goal of returning borrowers to repayment.

If you could be anywhere in the Universe for New Years Eve, where would you be?

Kevin: Taking my wife to the nicest restaurant in Barcelona, Spain.

What is your favorite movie snack?

Kevin: Popcorn with lots of butter

Name one thing that many people do not know about you.

Kevin: I am a grilling King and love to grill all year round, especially in the snow.
