What has been your biggest work related challenge during the past 12 months?

Evan: The biggest challenge has been reducing the spending in my area while not compromising service to our Nelnet associates and leadership.  Thus far, I believe we have been successful.

If a school were to ask you what it is you do for Nelnet that impacts them, what would you say?

Evan: Nelnet Career Services (NCS) offers college and university Career offices the opportunity to share the administrative load of what they do, giving them more time to spend with their students.  NCS can provide schools and their students such services as resume writing, job interview coaching, assessments, deeply rich career content, and e-learning options.

NCS can offer Alumni offices a value-added service where they can create a positive cash flow via a revenue sharing program.

What are the goals of your area?

Evan: The main goals are to increase associate engagement, provide learning and development opportunities to the organization, increase our overall associates’ well being, retain our talent, and to support a culture of innovation.

If you could be anywhere in the universe for New Year’s Eve, where would you be and why?

Evan: I would be in Rio de Janeiro, because I have found Brazilians to be some of the happiest people in the world. 

What is your favorite movie snack?

Evan: Milk Duds.

Name one thing that many people do not know about you.

Evan:  My sense of humor got stunted and remained at about the 7th grade level.

What are you most proud of within your area?Evan Roth: I am most proud that we have such high caliber talent that is aligned to where we want to go as an organization. It is very different and much more value added than traditional HR areas.  I am also pleased that we have external as well as internal customers, which causes us to be extra sharp with our approaches to people issues and business opportunities.
