Becky Keith, Director of Borrower On-Boarding

What are you most proud of with your department?

Becky Keith: I am most proud of our team’s adaptability, commitment, and teamwork.  Even when we were converting significant loan volumes to the system this year, we also implemented several new loan programs successfully.  Additionally, my team has done a very good job balancing the needs of our commercial lenders with those of our new federal client, the Department of Education.

What has been your biggest work related challenge during the past 12 months?

Becky: My biggest challenge has been to keep pace with the rate of change…internal, industry, FSA, ECASLA, Direct Loan, etc.

If a school were to ask you what it is you do for Nelnet that impacts them, what would you say?

Becky: We proactively communicate to our schools during the PUT process.  We provide advance notice of the PUT date along with a roster so the schools are aware of the lender’s scheduled sale and their student impact.  Our School Service Center is here to help with any questions.

What are the goals of your department?

Becky: Our mission is to provide a superior foundation for servicing student loans.  Within this mission, we aim to transition customers smoothly from the COD servicer to our Nelnet systems by loading the loan data accurately and timely.  We also help our commercial clients achieve their goals by administering all the ECASLA liquidity programs.  Additionally, we embrace change and look for the opportunities to continuously improve Nelnet.

If you could be anywhere in the universe for New Year’s Eve, where would you be?

Becky: Times Square in New York City.  I thrive on the energy of Times Square.

What is your favorite movie snack?

Becky: Popcorn, lightly buttered and salted.

Name one thing that many people do not know about you.

Becky: I have a daughter that is off to college this year!  I also have two different colored eyes…blue and green.
