Faces of Nelnet: Caron Peterson, Nelnet Government Solutions
Interviewed by Dawn Knight, Western Regional Director, Nelnet Partner Solutions
What are you most proud of within your department?
Caron Peterson: The commitment of our associates [and] their sense of humor mixed with the right amount of sarcasm.
What has been your biggest work related challenge during the past 12 months?
Caron: Working more closely with Jim Harris–he asks you for information, but you really can’t trust that he won’t alter what you say…watch him closely. [Note from Jim: I have absolutely no idea to what Caron is referring here. I just like to make Caron’s information a bit more interesting.]
If a school were to ask what it is you do for Nelnet that impacts them, what would you say?
Caron: We have products that help deliver grants and scholarships, help with enrollment and tuition payment processing, help students improve their skills to get into college, practice for tests and certifications, become more financially literate…we help students to be career ready.
What are the goals of your department?
Caron: To deliver superior products and services.
If you could be anywhere in the universe for New Year’s Eve, where would you be?
Caron: Hhhmmmm…either at a toga pool party on Anguilla or at Sausage Tree Safari Camp on an island in the Zambezi river, both come with many, many beverages, good food and warm weather.
What is your favorite movie snack?
Caron: Popcorn with butter or Pirate’s Booty and dark chocolate covered almonds.
Name one thing that many people do not know about you.
Caron: I consider creamsicles as meeting the dietary standard for dairy and fruit.
