Mark Branitsky, Senior Marketing Manager, Nelnet Career Services/ResumeEdge

Dawn Knight: What are you most proud of with your department?

Mark Branitsky: I am most proud of the fact that our small department is singularly focused on helping our customers reach their career dreams, whether that be by providing excellent resume writing services, job interview coaching, or simply answering a career-related question.

Dawn: Please describe a typical day for you.

Mark: There is no such thing as a typical day, but I’ll routinely review our sites’ search engine marketing and optimization results, try to recruit new affiliate partners into our distribution network, make content updates to our websites, and keep senior leadership informed on progress to move our business forward.

Dawn: What has been your biggest challenge work-wise over the past 12 months?

Mark: The biggest challenge has been prioritizing all of the opportunities in front of Nelnet Career Services and ResumeEdge, while trying to launch a new website that will be content and tool focused. Job seekers are clamoring for information, and it is my responsibility to not only gather that information from content experts, but to communicate it and distribute it effectively to our customers – whether that is in the form of an article, an email communication, or a search engine result.

Dawn: If a school asks you what you do for Nelnet that impacts them, what would you say?

Mark: Nelnet Career Services helps job seekers take their education to the next level. Our goals are the same as the school’s – to ensure that students (and all job seekers) achieve career success after completion of their degree.

Dawn: If you could have dinner with anyone on the planet, who would that be and what would you order?

Mark: Babe Ruth. I’d order a hot dog, a beer, and Cracker Jacks.

Dawn: What is one piece of clothing you just can’t live without?

Mark: I have an old-fashioned satin New York Mets jacket that was given to me by my brother for my 21st birthday. I haven’t worn it in over 20 years, but I’ll never get rid of it.

Dawn: What was your very first job?

Mark: My first summer job was at the now-defunct Newsweek magazine. I was a temporary photocopy clerk.
