Remembering our Tornado Victims
As we continue planning for the upcoming semester, let’s take a moment out of the day to remember those affected by the tragic tornadoes that struck our southern states last week. Several of our financial aid family members and students were affected by these devastating storms.
Red Cross officials are still conducting damage assessment and putting people in shelters. Search operations continue for those missing, and curfews are in force to prevent looting. The financial and economic toll is still being tallied, but officials in hardest-hitAlabamasay the damage there alone could rival the $1 billion in insured losses the state suffered in Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
Our friends down south will appreciate any help we can provide, whether it is donations, prayers or volunteer work. Thousands of volunteers have already stepped in to help with these relief efforts and to ensure that our victims have food and shelter.
