You Spoke, We Listened: New, Extended Borrower Customer Service Hours

August 22, 2011

We are excited to let you know that beginning today we will be open longer to take your students’ calls. Our new call center hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. (Central) Monday–Friday, giving students attending schools across the country an additional three hours each weekday to get their questions answered and to interact with Nelnet on the phone when they need to.

All students have to do is call 1.888.486.4722 and press 8 to quickly talk to a Customer Service Representative.

We’re committed to making it as easy as possible for borrowers to pay their student loans. That’s why we are making investments to improve our customer service and technology. This is what we have done so far this year to improve our service—and we’ve got more in the works:

  • Last week, we launched a new Manage My Account website so your students can quickly view or intuitively click through to the things that are important to them.
  • We expanded our mobile technology so students can access their student loan account and make a payments anytime, from anywhere with our mobile website and apps.
  • We began offering text messaging alerts to send quick, timely student loan updates to your students’ cell phones.

We are driven to exceed your students’ expectations, and we invite you and your students to share with us any suggestions or feedback you have so we can best meet their needs. Encourage your students to comment or question at Facebook.com/Nelnet. You can always provide feedback to me by commenting right here on the blog or by contacting your Nelnet Partner Solutions Regional Director.

Thank you,

Jim Harris

National Director of Nelnet Partner Solutions.
