Focus On Your Health: What is BMI?
Ask the Coach
What is BMI?
Body Mass Index (BMI) – BMI is a measurement which takes into account a person’s weight and height to gauge their body mass index – a low BMI may indicate underweight and may be associated with health problems for some people. BMI of 20 – 25 is considered to be good. A BMI greater than 25 is considered to be high for most people. This may indicate overweight or obesity and may increase the risk of developing health problems.
BMI may not be as accurate for athletes as muscle is more dense than fat. If you fall into this range, we suggest having your body fat measured in addition to your BMI.
