Poll Booth: Need a Vacation?
Most Financial Aid professionals are busy awarding student aid for 2012-2013. Buried deep in paperwork, many would rather be sitting somewhere tropical watching the waves rather than the FAFSA. If you are considering planning a vacation, Conde’ Nast Traveler recently published some excellent travel tips. Here are two of their suggestions:
Time It Right. Fly on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Saturday. Consider flying on off-peak days. Are you thinking of taking two days off for a long weekend? Conde’ Nast recommends that instead of a Thursday to Sunday or a Friday to Monday trip, save money by flying on a Saturday and returning on a Tuesday.
Buy airline tickets mid-day on Tuesday, between noon and 3 pm. Airlines tend to announce fare sales on Monday nights.
When you begin to search for your ideal destination, some websites you might consider looking at include: Kayak, Expedia, Travelocity, Apple Vacations, and Sun Trips. Always check the airline websites directly as well.
