Official Cohort Default Rate – Loan Servicing Appeals

September 20, 2013

Official cohort default rates are currently being released to schools. Any school that receives an official cohort default rate may submit a loan servicing appeal if it believes that its most recent official cohort default rate calculation includes one or more defaulted FFELs or Direct Loans that were improperly serviced for cohort default rate purposes. This includes schools that are not subject to sanction and schools that have withdrawn from the FFEL and/or Direct Loan programs.

In the event you elect to initiate a Loan Servicing Appeal, schools and data managers are encouraged to use the eCDR system for Loan Servicing Appeals. If you are not able to use the eCDR system, please use an electronic exchange of information with Nelnet. Instead of printing paper reports and physically sending them to us, you can simply send us your data and information electronically. Using an electronic exchange of information should make the process easier and more efficient. Please send your LRDR requests to CDRServicingAppeals@nelnet.net. Although entities may charge a fee for responding to Loan Servicing Appeals, Nelnet does not charge a fee for this process.
