Nsight Plus Tip: Identifying Late Stage Delinquent Borrowers

November 19, 2013

Nsight imageNeed:  Your institution wants to proactively work a default prevention program, and one of the key components of that program is to contact borrowers who are dangerously close to defaulting. Your objective is to contact the borrower by phone and put them in touch with Nelnet via a three-way call. Nelnet can counsel the borrower, determine their current situation, discuss their available options, and bring the borrower current.

Solution:

  • Access Nsight Plus, Nelnet’s online access tool for information on any and all borrowers being serviced at Nelnet whose accounts reflect your School ID.
  • Pull the Late State Delinquency Report which will identify borrower accounts that are between 241 to 360 days delinquent.  The report will provide specific detail as to their delinquency status as well as contact information needed to assist you in your outreach efforts.
  • Contact the borrower, hand them off to Nelnet, and let us do what we do best!

Think this sounds like a great plan, but don’t want to have to go into Nsight Plus every week to identify your late state delinquent borrowers?  No problem!  Nelnet encourages you to utilize the auto-scheduling feature of the system.  You can set the report to run as often as necessary and to deliver to a specified e-mail address (or addresses) on any given day of the week.  It is that simple!

If you do not have Nsight Plus access, please submit the online request form at http://www.nelnetloanservicing.com/nsight/.  You will receive a communication with your logon credentials from Nelnet’s School Service Center within two business days! Should you have any questions about how to schedule a report or about any other Nsight Plus features and functionality, we encourage you to view the computer-based training modules at the above link, or as always, please feel free to contact Nelnet’s School Service Center (866.463.5638 or ssc@nelnet.net) or your designated Partner Solutions Representative.
