Get to Know Our New Learning Engineers

March 19, 2014

April Hastings and Nycci Parsons, our two new Learning Engineers, have joined Ron Hancock and Dana Kelly to provide you and your students with exceptional learning experiences. Our Learning Engineers will be keeping financial aid officers up to date with the latest in the industry during trainings on both Tuesdays and Wednesdays. In addition, they will be teaching students about student loans and financial literacy during our Money Monday webinars. April and Nycci have shared some fun facts so we can get to know them better!

If you were a cartoon character, who would you be and why?

I would choose Carmen Sandiego because I love to travel, help solve puzzles, and meet extraordinary people in our field. Plus she’s just classy.

What do you love most about training?

I love sharing knowledge with others and connecting the subject to a bigger picture, allowing everyone in the room to participate, whether they are a novice or an expert on the subject. I love to evoke new ideas and entice the participants to learn something new. I’ve been training for ten years.

After a training session, the main thing I want attendees to take away is a strong comfort with the information provided. That’s important to me because it gives them the confidence they need to become a valuable resource for others and apply what they’ve learned when they return to their office.

On the weekends, I like to catch up with some reading and connect with my family and friends.

If I had the opportunity to dig my feet in the sand one more time with someone, it would be with my Grandma, because I just want to laugh with her once more.

If you were a cartoon character, who would you be and why?

I would be the Road Runner because of my busy schedule as a trainer. I am always on the go, always ready for change, and always willing to go full throttle to stay one step ahead of the coyote.

What do you love most about training?

The things I love most about training are enabling and empowering people with information, reinventing continuously, and valuing the relationships and results that come from a training session. I’ve been training for seventeen years, and I really love it!

After a training session, the main thing I want attendees to take away is the practical application of the information. That’s important to me because if the attendee can apply what they learned right away, that spells S-U-C-C-E-S-S!

On the weekends, I like to spend time with my son and taxi him and his buddies to their sporting events. My car should really be yellow.

If I had the opportunity to sit on a bench, at sunset, on a beautiful beach, I would want to talk to Al (my husband) because he offered wisdom, guidance, and love throughout our lives together. Plus I just really miss him.
