Nycci: How long have you been with Nelnet?
Denise: April 17th marked my seventh year!
Nycci: What is your favorite thing about the job?
Denise: I enjoy being able to interact with both the schools and borrowers.
Nycci: What do you like to do for fun?
Denise: On a nice day, I like to go out with my cousins and spend time hanging out away from home. If it’s a cold day, I like to stay inside and watch movies.
Nycci: What has been the favorite place you traveled or where would you go on your dream trip?
Denise: My favorite trip was my first trip alone to Seattle. My dream trip would be to go to Costa Rica.
Nycci: What is the best advice you ever received?
Denise: “Don’t let the bad days in your life shape your opinion about your daily activities; let the good days shape your opinion about yourself, both at work and at home.”
Nycci: What do you feel are some of the biggest challenges that today’s direct loan borrowers face?
Denise: As a borrower myself, one of the challenges I run into is that sometimes it is unclear how deferment, forbearance, and other repayment options work. I know that I have these options, but I also need help finding assistance to pay off the loan sooner, or at least making a basic plan and establishing goals to pay off my student loan debt. I know here at Nelnet, we strive to provide information about how borrowers can pay off their loans sooner.
